Digital RVG imaging

Our dental office offers you the most sophisticated digital dental X-ray.

In office, we use an RVG sensor, as well as a 3D digital OPG device for diagnostics and treatment. Such an approach and method of imaging provides us with the possibility of more precise diagnostics, better communication with the patient and less radiation during imaging. Due to the exceptionally low exposition, the patient’s protection is four times higher than in classical radiography.

FAQ

We will try to answer briefly some of the most common questions
What is the meaning of the term “digital rvg“?
In dental medicine, the acronym RVG stands for radiovisiography, a specificimaging and diagnostic method. The term “Digital RVG” refers to imaging with a digital sensor with immediate display on the computer screen instead on a classical negative film.

The major advantage of the digital RVG over classical imaging is the reduced radiation exposure of the patient. Furthermore, the computer processing of RVG images provides the dentist with a clearer and more detailed image, better diagnostics and, consequently, better treatment results.

What are the advantages of digital images over images on classical film?
Contemporary methods of RVG imaging with digital sensors provide high quality images, with significantly reduced radiation required for the imaging of one or more teeth. This is a huge advantage for patients, because in imaging with digital technology the dose of radiation used is up to four times less than the dose required for film imaging.

Furthermore, the image on the computer is much clearer; it can be displayed over the whole screen (enlargement of the entire image or parts thereof) and additionally processed by applying different tools. All these methods give the dentist a much clearer picture of the potential problems and enable more accurate diagnosing and quality in making final decisions. Therefore, RVG imaging in contemporary dental medicine is a standard and not merely an option for individual persons.

What is the meaning of the term “digital ortophantomograph”?
Digital orthopantomograph represents a modern variation of the classical orthopantomograph enabling the imaging of entire jaw bones. Its big advantage is the significantly reduced radiation and immediate display of the image on the computer screen. The image is stored permanently in our computer supported data base, where it is available at any time. It can also be stored on a CD, transferred via USB memory sticks or sent via electronic mail.

The images display the structures with high precision, which enables us to see more details and make a more accurate diagnosis compared to classical images. Pathological processes around all tooth roots, the state of the bones in cases of periodontitis and caries lesions on teeth are clearly visible and implantological planning is made easier. In terms of diagnostics, this is the most important image for timely detection of teeth and surrounding tissue diseases.

Is it safe to have dental x-rays during pregnancy?
First and foremost, your dentist must be informed about the pregnancy before x-ray imaging, regardless of the stage of pregnancy. Different options of imaging are available (with a much less dose), as well as options of radiation protection (with lead apron and protection for the neck and the thyroid gland), some of which may be allowed during pregnancy.

However, the dentist will make an appraisal of whether it is suitable to make the x-ray, taking into account all the circumstances and the biological or health state of the pregnant woman.

Is radiographic imaging painful?
No. Radiographic imaging, whether of one particular tooth or the entire jaw line, is a completely painless and quick procedure. The imaging of one tooth lasts only a few seconds, and of the entire jaw 12 -15 seconds.
Can i have all types of images made in your practice?
Our clinic is equipped with the complete diagnostic radiologic technology for all kinds of imaging.

In our clinic no special appointment is required and the patients do not have to wait for the images, because they are finished immediately. Every patient receives the image on CD or radiographic film. If necessary, the image can also be sent via email to the address specified by the patient.
